The class of 1989 -1994 has proven to be a trailblazer through dedication, service and readiness at all time to give back to this great and prestigious citadel of learning, Ilesa Grammar School. The sustainability of the ethos of Omoluabi gained and development of the infrastructure and human capacity is paramount in the heart of every member of the Set.
In the whole of Ijesaland, It remained the only secondary school for almost twenty years until St Margaret's School came up in 1953, Obokun High School, 1954, while Methodist High School and Ijebu-Jesa Grammar School came up 1955. It was not until 1957 that Ipetu-Ijesa Grammar School came up.
In politics, the school had produced Governor, Lateef Jakande, Deputy Governors, Suyi Haastrup, Aderoju Ojikutu, Senators,: Sola Adeyeye, Sharafadeen Alli, Adenigba Fadahunsi, several State Commissioners, and legislators.
In academics, perhaps Ilesa Grammar School is the only secondary school that has so far, singularly, produced the highest number of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities: Profs Hezekiah Oluwasanmi, Wale Omole, Oye Ibidapo-Obe, Folorunso Adewole, Idowu Olayinka, Bisi Balogun, RotimiTayo, Diran Famurewa,Olaosebikan Fakulujo etc.
Professors, University teachers of various grades are in thousands all over the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education.
In law, we have produced a former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Alfa Belgore, Judges of the Supreme Court: Kayode Esho, Emmanuel Ayoola, State Chief Judges : Tunde Oluborode, Emmanuel Araka. In addition, there are many old students of the silk : Bamidele Aiku, Jonathan Majiyagbe, Wole Olanipekun, Muyiwa Aduroja, Victoria Awomolo, etc
In all professions, Medicine, Engineering, Accountancy, old students are there.
In the business world, the names of old students ring bell. The list include: Wahab Folawewo, Sunny Odogwu, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, and many entrepreneurs.
The list is inexhaustible, the parade is endless.
The motto of Ilesa Grammar School is "E Huwa Omoluabi". Generations of students that went through the school passed the attributes of "Omoluabi": i e, descipline, excellence, honesty, integrity, self-reliance, dedication to duty, etc, etc, from one generation to another.
Thus, by virtue of its unique position in Ijesaland and Osun State, by the records and contributions of the products of the school to national endeavours and national development, by the character ethics of the school imbibed in the society, and all other considerations put together, all old students have come to regard Ilesa Grammar School, not just as a School, but as A Legacy, and one to be jealously protected and preserved.
