Elation As CBN Gives Fresh Directive To Banks On New Naira Notes



The CBN has directed commercial banks to start issuing the new naira notes to Nigerians at the counter Godwin Emefiele, the governor disclosed the latest development in a statement on Thursday following outcries by Nigerians Some presidential candidates have joined Nigerians to condemned the policy but the federal government and the apex bank would not take a reverse.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued a fresh directive to commercial banks, ordering the financial institution to start issuing new naira notes at the counter. According to the governor of the CBN, Godwin Emefiele, the new directives were to relieve Nigerians from the challenges they are experiencing with getting access to the new notes, The Cable reported.

CBN orders banks to give new naira notes on counter The apex bank governor maintained that the new directive will further reduce queues at the automated teller machines (ATMs) across the country.

Emefiele in the statement assured Nigerians that the new note will be available for collection at the counter Nigerians have been lamenting about the shortage of the new note but the apex bank disclosed that it is working with stakeholders to curtail the challenges.
