Kevin Campbell has told Arsenal and Manchester City to take Manchester United “very seriously” with Erik ten Hag’s side “in the mix for the title”.
Ten Hag is doing a superb job at Old Trafford having taken on the job last summer after the club’s shambolic 2021-22 campaign.
United are only five points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal, though Mikel Arteta’s side do have two games in hand.
The Gunners host City on Wednesday evening in a huge clash, and the Red Devils will surely be hoping for a draw.

Former Gunners striker Kevin Campbell thinks Ten Hag’s side must be taken “very seriously”, especially given Marcus Rashford’s remarkable form in front of goal.
Campbell told Sky Sports: “Ten Hag is really getting a tune out of this Manchester United side. Marcus Rashford is on fire. They are in the mix for the title, make no mistake about it.
“They have played two games more than Arsenal who are top, but their form right now, you have to take them seriously.
“They have got strength in depth. They can afford to leave major players out of the squad and still go to Elland Road and win 2-0. It wasn’t convincing, but to win there 2-0 is very difficult to do.
“I’d take Manchester United very seriously now.”
United’s success under Ten Hag could ironically hinder their title push as they prepare to take on Barcelona in the Europa League and remain in both domestic cup competitions.
Competing in four different competitions could take its toll on the squad, especially given the Dutch manager’s reluctance to rotate against lower-league opposition in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
The Red Devils take on Newcastle United in the final of the Carabao Cup on February 26 as they look to win their first piece of silverware since Jose Mourinho led them to Europa League glory in 2017.
The Magpies are also going through a trophy drought, but a much worse one. They have not won a major honour since the 1950s when they won the FA Cup, if we are not counting the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1969.
They are bound to end that lengthy drought soon given their upturn in fortunes since Mike Ashley and Steve Bruce departed.
