Sadio Mane’s Liverpool career came to an end in the last summer after the Reds agreed a €41m deal with Bayern Munich for the sale of the Senegalese.
Kopites waved off the forward with a heavy heart, having seen him score 120 goals during his six seasons on Merseyside to first fire Liverpool back into the Champions League for only the second time since 2009, before helping them win six trophies and be crowned champions of England, Europe and the world.
Aged 30 with a year left on his contract, admittedly it was only a matter of time before the Reds had to consider a future without the forward. And while he might prove in Bavaria that there could have been more juice to squeeze from this illustrious partnership at Anfield, Liverpool bosses will at least be consoled by the fact they have enjoyed Mane’s peak years and are still selling him at a profit.
And according to Miguel Delaney of The Independent, there is a realisation within the Liverpool camp that the decision to sell Mane is backfiring in that they haven’t replaced him properly. Despite the January signing of Luis Diaz, a number of injuries have left Liverpool short all over the pitch.
