The Lagos State Judicial Panel of Restitution and Inquiry set up to investigate cases of police brutality involving officers of the now-defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), has awarded compensations to two petitioners.
The petitioners, Kudirat Obayomi and Hannah Olugbodi were awarded N10 million each, based on the panel’s recommendation.
It is the first time the panel will be awarding compensation since it commenced sitting last year in the wake of the nationwide #ENDSARS protests against police brutality in the country.
